LIONPRO welcomes the delegation of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ghana to strengthen economic cooperation and develop a regional supply center in West Africa

LIONPRO, a Latvian family-owned company engaged in the global trade of animal feed ingredients, welcomed the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, together with his delegation, at LIONPRO’s headquarters in Riga on 2 February this year.

The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, build on existing initiatives, and identify new opportunities for collaboration between Latvia and Ghana, including LIONPRO’s plans to develop a regional supply center in the Republic of Ghana. The visit took place in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and was also attended by Gints Zadraks, Head of the Economic Relations Division, and Senior Desk Officer Džekija Eilande.

During the visit, the Ghanaian delegation was introduced to LIONPRO’s operations, its global supply chain model, and the company’s experience in implementing sustainable agriculture and animal feed raw material solutions across African countries.

Special attention was also given to the importance of education and knowledge transfer, emphasizing that modern solutions in animal nutrition, combined with farmer training, can significantly improve productivity, sustainability, and the competitiveness of local agriculture.

During the meeting, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ghana positively assessed LIONPRO’s activities in Ghana, as well as the company’s plans to develop a regional cooperation and supply center in the Republic of Ghana, which would promote supply chain development and long-term cooperation in the West African region. The Minister emphasized that, through LIONPRO’s expertise, products, and educational initiatives, it is possible to strengthen Ghana’s agricultural sector, which forms the backbone of the country’s economy, while also contributing to food security and sustainable sector development.

Jānis Kuļikovskis, Chairman of the Board of LIONPRO, notes:

“We are honored to welcome the state delegation of the Republic of Ghana and to engage in a constructive dialogue on strengthening economic cooperation between Latvia and Ghana. At LIONPRO, we are committed to continuing the educational and cooperation initiatives already underway, as well as identifying new areas where the knowledge, products, and educational approach of Latvian companies can deliver long-term added value to the development of Ghana’s agriculture and food sectors. One of our long-term goals is to develop a regional supply center in West Africa, and Ghana would be a strategically strong location for this.”

The visit confirms LIONPRO’s strategic focus on African markets and the company’s role as a bridge between European expertise and fast-growing regions with high development potential.

From now on, LINEN and LIONPRO are united under one global brand.
