More Than 200 Farmers United: Two Days That Strengthened Poultry Nutrition in Burkina Faso
On February 17 and 18, 2026, LIONPRO organized two specialized seminars in Burkina Faso focused on animal nutrition and poultry production, bringing together more than 200 farmers, feed traders, and industry representatives. The events were designed to strengthen local knowledge in poultry nutrition, support more efficient feed formulation practices, and provide practical solutions adapted to West African farming conditions. The strong attendance and active engagement clearly demonstrated the growing demand for technical expertise and cost-effective nutritional strategies in the region.
The seminars addressed the fundamental principles of poultry nutrition, emphasizing the importance of proper energy and protein balance, dry matter management, digestibility, and the critical role of essential amino acids in growth, immunity, and productivity. Participants discussed how up to 55% of animal performance depends directly on feed quality and formulation, while genetics and environmental factors further influence results. Special attention was given to lysine and methionine balance, calcium and phosphorus requirements for laying hens, and feed structure recommendations across different growth stages.
A key focus of the program was protein cost optimization. As protein remains the most expensive component of feed, the discussions explored alternative protein sources that maintain nutritional value while improving economic efficiency. LIONPRO presented the nutritional benefits and applications of animal-based proteins such as Meat and Bone Meal (MBM), blood meal, feather meal, and other processed animal proteins. These ingredients offer high digestibility, a well-balanced amino acid profile, strong mineral content, and low inclusion rates with significant nutritional impact. The message highlighted during the seminar was clear: plant proteins provide the quantity of protein, while animal proteins provide the quality of protein.

The seminars also underlined the importance of circular economy principles. Approximately 50% of the animal is not used for human food production in Europe but can be responsibly processed into valuable raw materials for feed, fertilizers, and biofuels. Through controlled thermal processing, strict microbiological testing, batch certification, and compliance with international standards, these products meet high safety and quality requirements.
Throughout the sessions, participants engaged in practical discussions, asked technical questions, and explored how to improve feed efficiency and profitability within their own operations. The interactive format allowed farmers and feed professionals to receive tailored recommendations aligned with their production goals.
By organizing these seminars, LIONPRO continues to strengthen its presence in West Africa and reinforce its long-term commitment to the sustainable development of the poultry sector. Beyond supplying products, the company focuses on knowledge transfer, technical support, and building strong partnerships that enable farmers to operate more efficiently, safely, and profitably.
