Chief Accountant
About the position
LIONPRO is looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to take ownership of maintaining high accounting quality standards across our international group.
Working closely with colleagues across different countries, you will help drive consistent accounting practices, continuous process improvement, and the effective operation of the finance function across the LIONPRO Group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate the Group’s financial close calendar and ensure timely completion of close activities across your assigned Group entities.
- Ensure consistent application of Group accounting policies, the chart of accounts, and close procedures, including aligning accounting practices across countries and with outsourced service providers.
- Review journal entries, accruals, provisions, and other balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany transactions and balances, and ensure timely resolution of any discrepancies identified. Support Group entity accountants and Market Controllers on technically complex accounting matters.
- Coordinate preparation for the Group’s statutory and interim audits, ensuring timely delivery of information and effective cooperation with auditors.
- Monitor the implementation of audit findings and ensure recurring accounting issues are resolved.
- Review the quality of financial master data and assess the accuracy of expected postings in SAP finance scenarios.
- Promote high accounting quality standards by providing methodological guidance, reviewing team output, and supporting colleagues’ professional development.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 5 years of experience as a Senior Accountant, Chief Accountant, or in an equivalent role, ideally within an international, multi-entity group.
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS, general ledger accounting, financial close, balance sheet control, and audit requirements.
- Experience coordinating statutory reporting, audits, and Group audit processes across multiple entities.
- Experience developing, implementing, and improving accounting policies, internal controls, and finance processes.
- Ability to make sound professional judgments, provide guidance to colleagues, and act as a trusted expert on complex accounting matters.
- Experience working with ERP systems; knowledge of SAP or involvement in ERP implementation and finance transformation projects will be considered an advantage.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Good command of English for working in an international environment.
